Why I hate Shane Dawson
Ok. Maybe I don’t hate him personally, but I do hate his videos. I seriously can’t understand why Shane Dawson has so many subscribers. It really has me baffled. Hey, maybe it’s just me. Maybe I just don’t get his style of humor. Or maybe his videos are aimed towards a much younger audience than me. Either way; I don’t find him funny. At all.
Why do I hate Shane Dawson?
Why do I hate his videos so much? Well, firstly, his humor seems kind of cheesy, plastic and slapstick to me. It’s as if the Disney Channel attempted to branch out into adult humor but failed horribly. His videos just don’t make me laugh. And that makes me very suspicious. Do people subscribe to him because they actually find him funny or is it because they like the fact that he embraces the whole emo/scene subculture? Because that would piss me off and make me hate his subscribers even more.
Another reason I hate Shane Dawson’s videos is because he whores himself out. Instead of relying solely on the quality of his videos, he instead employs a number of cheap attention-grabbing tactics. He uses suggestive video titles and thumbnails. On one occasion, he put a picture of some girls backside in the thumbnail of his video, even though it had very little to do with what he was actually talking about. This is basically the same as shouting “HEY LOOK AT ME! CHECK OUT THIS VIDEO! LOOK, IT’S A GIRLS ASS! HAHA! CHECK IT OUT!”
But, but… you’re just jealous of Shane!
I also hate the majority of Shane Dawson’s subscribers. Why? Because they take any criticism of Shane as a sign that you’re just jealous of him. That’s a pretty stupid argument to make. Yes, I will admit that I am jealous of how many subscribers he has, but that isn’t the reason I hate his videos. The truth is: I can be jealous of how many subscribers a person has and still like that person’s videos. Most people would kill to have the number of subscribers that Shane Dawson has. There is no denying that. But mindlessly brushing off criticism of him as jealousy? That’s just stupid. If someone called you jealous because you said that you didn’t like the taste of liver, you’d look at them as if they had two heads. So please, stop being an idiot. Some people just don’t like Shane Dawson. Learn to deal with it.

I, whole heartedly, can say that I have a slight attraction to Shane Dawson but that in fact does NOT make me want to marry him. I am a 14 year old girl who thinks he is funny. By all means think what you want about Shane Dawson. You could hate his guts I don’t mind because we all are entitled to express our opinions. If you think I am a “stupid little girl” that is absoutly fine. People will say what they want to say. Again you think what you want to think but when you start wishing actual harm that I think could be crossing the line. It is fine to “hate” a person but to openly say that you wish that he “dies tragicly” is atleast on the borderline of crossing the line. Shane Dawson not only met all of these standards, but decided to rub salt in my wound and added a fourth trait. IGNORANT. Shane doesn’t give a damn about any serious issues, and only cares about making money off his sea of eyeballs that he has to trick into subscribing, liking, favorite-ing, and commenting on his substandard, vulgar, and overrated material.
His sense of humor is as forced and unfunny, as it is overrated.
He doesn’t care about any serious issues? He made videos about bullying, bulimia, the situation in Japan, and other stuff that I would deem “serious”. I’m not a10 year old girl that thinks he’s cute. I’m 19, and I think he’s average looking. The thing is, he doesn’t care about getting rich. His t-shirts are fifteen dollars. Yeah, he wants a TV show, who wouldn’t? He loves his fans and can relate to them, unlike other actors who came from rich families. He doesn’t show off how famous he’s getting. He doesn’t reject kids who like his videos if they meet in public. He’s a pretty nice guy. His videos are a little immature, but what would you expect from a 23 year old guy? His purpose is to make people laugh, to take them away from the bullshit in their lives. He helps people. I was depressed, someone told me about him, now, I laugh my ass off every time I watch him.

Shane Dawson’s humor is horrible and targeted at children and pre-teens from what I’ve seen of his subscribers list. I just looked at the last video he did for halloween and I was so appalled by what is considered humorous now. He shoots a hot girl because she makes him ejaculate too fast in one part and kills the one who he dressing up as Lady Gaga along with burning her face with a blow-torch. I understand that it’s all satire and humor but I really feel it should not be done in with such violent imagery. Especially when the majority of his viewer’s are children. I find it very disturbing

2. He was overweight as a child and was bullied because of his weight.
3. His mom is a single mother and raised him and two other sons by herself.

More things happened to him then just his grandma dying. His father was an alcoholic that used to abuse him. Then he abandoned him. He had a weight problem. Problems with suicide and depression. He lived in poverty. Yea, a lot of his videos are immature, but some of his videos are very serious and completely heart felt. He actually cares about his fans and even stopped one from committing suicide. You don’t have to like him, but don’t say that his life is perfect when you don’t know anything about him. It’s rough all over.

You may not like it or even want to aknowledge it, but Shane Dawson DOES have millions of subscribers and followers. Why? Because he appeals to people, he know’s what’s popular with most of his targeted audience. And you may use the argument”All he talks about is sex and he’s racist!!!”, but if you actually paid attention you would be able to tell that he’s trying to steer people away from drugs, sex, and racism. I mean look at his characters, they are all very funny, but very clearly messed up, and it makes people laugh but also makes people see what they would be like if the were into those types of things. And strangely enough in alot of his videos, you can see that he’s trying to promote a positive message to people. Also despite the beleif that “he haez nu talent” actually he does. He has an incredible acting ability and is able to get into character amazingly well, and he has another talent, dedication. Very rare to find that these days. But most of all he appeals to people because he is very likable, possessing traits such as: A nice personality, a nice face, and the ability to make most people laugh. You want more subscribers? Bashing Shane isn’t going to do it for you, I suggest you accquire one or two of the three traits above and try to change your image accordingly, but without totally selling out. I don’t think your jealous of him, because by the looks of it you’ve got a little bit of internet credit yourself, but I don’t see why you would feel the need to post an article like this if you hate the guy’s videos so much, if it were me I’d just be like “fuck it” and go on with my life.

People aren’t always going to agree on things or else life would get to boring. Anyways I do like Shane Dawson’s videos but that’s my opinion I am not so ignorant as to go around saying that someone who dosen’t like Shane Dawson is stupid because again we all have a right to opinions. And quite honestly I hate people who say that just because you don’t like him that makes you jealous of him. Which in some cases are true but you can’t assume that is always the case. People either do not get his humour or simply just not find it funny. Again it all ties back to opinions. We all have the right to express them as long as they are not threatening a person’s life/well-being. So as long as there is no threats against someone there is really no problem with openly saying you do not like someone rather it be on YouTube/Internet/Real Life. We can not always agree on everything. I love his videos in my opinion. And I DO NOT think you are jealous I think you just don’t like/get his humour and that is completely fine. Maybe his comedy is directed to a younger audiences because I myself am a 14 year old girl. But life is to short to really be angry about someone else’s point of view. As long as no one is physically being hurt and or mentally/emotionaly being hurt/bullied we should not really care what people think. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I personally dislike his content, and I really feel it’s a shame that people push his videos up to the “most viewed” slots. I dunno. I’m not going to say he should DIE AND BURN IN HELL FOR ETERNITY!!!!1!!1!1!11!!!!!. I just don’t like his humor. Shane is a comedian. Certain comedy acts I like (Bo Burnham ftw!), certain ones I don’t find funny. Shane’s is one of them. Some people like his humor, I don’t. And really, I find the crossdressing thing a bit… weird, and I think he should stop.
I guess you could say I hate Shane Dawnson. In my opinion, he’s a very perverted individual, and also not a very emotionally attractive one (no homo, don’t take that the wrong way). I don’t relate to him at all, and I don’t think that’s not a bad thing. But I’m not going to say he should die and go to hell either.
Some of his videos are pretty funny, mostly the music videos. Being a Slipknot fan myself, I like it when he bashes crappy music.

It’s funny, whenever people want sympathy for people they like, they always say crap like “HIS DRUNK FATHER BEAT HIM AS A CHILD.” Well, my father was an angry drunk, and he didn’t beat me… often. The worst part about his videos are the unrelenting sexual jokes. If you can’t make a joke without talking about getting sexual pleasure from a broomstick, then don’t even try to be funny.
His fan base is not completely irritating. Plenty of my friends like Shane Dawnson. I will admit, some people are just super pervs and find all of Shane’s slapstick jokes to be really hilarious, but some of his subscribers find some of his [sadly rare] other humor to be the best part of Shane’s comedy. They also like him as a person. I have to admit, not making a video after the Japan earthquake out of respect was a really honorable thing to do, but I don’t think that redeems him for being so perverted.
Putting all this aside, all of his fans, even my friends, have this whole “Why don’t you like Shane Dawnson OMG u must be a retarded hater troll or something he’s soooo funny!” thing going on. I get over it. Maybe other Shane haters should, too.

Do you think no one likes you, no one cares? It would probably be better if you just die, right? not at all. i feel the same way sometimes, I’m a lot better than i was. when i was in 5th grade my mom got in a fight with my step dad about alcohol well they were intoxicated my step dad than got a hammer and smashed everything. He even smashed the hammer into my moms head, lucky she survived. i witness everything well i blocked my little sisters eyes. after we ran to my neighbors house and called the cops. he was peppered sprayed and tased before the cops could finally get him to calm down and get in the car. after that i got very depressed i couldn’t take seeing my mom like that. i hide a knife under my matress incase he ever broke in and got new locks for the doors and every night befor i went to bed i made sure all the windows were locked and blinds were closed, i thought things were at rock bottom, but than things got worse. A few months later she found out he got out of jail and took him back, she said he stoped drinking and we need him because he can work (my mom couldent because of he head injurys). i still was definitly not 100% with this idea. when he moved back in he dident drink, for a few weeks than he stared drinking more than hee did befor he whould run around the house looking for change, and even steal from my zebra piggy bank. About a year later well i was at my grandmas they got into another big fight andd broke up, for good, so i thought. 2 years later she took him back again. two months ago i was devistated. i thought obviouslyy no one cared what i thought, no one cared on my opion, no one cared about me. i wished i was dead and thought how easy i could end it than one day i was on youtube and there he was Shawn Dawson in the comminedy section. the tittle of the video was spongebob pothead? After i clicked on it i was addicted<33. i started watching his videos about suicide and it helped me alot!!!!! expesally the video ;why was i born’ i cryed:}. know when i feel like no one wants me on this earth i watch sd videos, i always know he does.
You know, you shouldn’t form an opinion of someone based on their video production alone. You should actually get to know the person beneath the make-up, wigs, and crazy costumes. Shane Dawson is not only funny (at least to me), he’s also an amazing, inspiring human being. He inspires people, stops them from cutting, and on at least one occasion, prevents a suicide. He doesn’t just make funny youtube videos, he cares.

In a few videos you will actually see him cry. That shows that Shane is a “real” person and people can connect and/or relate to some things he has gone through. And he has gone through a lot, anyone can see that from watching his videos. Also, I will admit his comedic videos aren’t all hilarious, however i find the majority very amusing. One other thing. Well… I’m 26 years old, and I recently started seeing Shane’s vids. And I cannot deny that some vids are ENTERTAINING (not funny) and some are really funny… Some of those made me laugh, another vids shocked me. I do not have anything against him. I do know he had a rough life or childhood, BUT!… There’s a BUT he do shows himself as a non-racist person and still makes a lot of racist comments, and that situation eventually get you kinda tires of him. Yes, he is a handsome dude and probably that’s the main reason for his succes… MAYBE!. I do not wish for him a slow and painful death, on the contrary I wish for him the best of luck and hopefully he’ll get his TV Show someday, and also he’ll be as happy as he wants to be. Do I think he uses excesive violence? Yes I do, and I also think that’s not appropiate for children, probably young people over 18… but since the majority of his fans are between the ages of 12 and 16 I would re-write my material to something more suitable for kids that age. Please don’t get me wrong, I consider myself as a Shane Dawson Fan, but… Being a REAL FAN also means you can see the flaws in him, not just idealize him.

Okay, first of all I have to say that you do have a valid point.
He over uses some of his… ‘Humour’, but I do love his videos and he seems like a really great guy. He’s helped alot of kids out with his videos and gives advice to people he’ll never even meet.
He doesn’t do all the sad videos for sympathy, he does it for comfort and to help his fans that might be going or have been going through the same things.
But the fact that he always talks about a certain celebrity continuously annoys me and that he over-uses alot of the things like the character Aunt Hilda and his Mom calling him a ‘Faggot’ all the time.

I am also a Shane Dawson fan, and i don’t think he is racist or a pervert in any way. As he says in many of his videos, he is still a virgin. If he was a pervert, would he care so much about marriage and that kind of stuff? Also, as you could see in recent videos, one of his best friend is black. My best friend is black, too, and, if you’re friends with black people, it’s okay to sometimes make fun of them, if you don’t cross. the line, which Shane doesn’t.
He hast gone through ALOT of tough stuff, and it’s AWESOME, how he can still be that life-loving and fun. Also, acting (and was he does IS acting) is hard work. You can’t just say, he isn’t grown up, just because he isn’t as boring as most adults are.

Now its…ha..ha. If you look at his videos, yes they are targeted for a younger audience, and yes they are immature as hell, but once again ITS FOR A YOUNGER AUDIENCE.
