Here are some things regarding Theater Mode that you need to take into account:

1. If you leave a game early, the game you were playing might not get stored in your recent games folder. This has happened to me a few times.
2. If a host quits out mid-game and a new host is chosen, that game often gets split up into two separate clips before being stored in your Recent Games folder.
3. If you have a good game and manage to get some sweet clips, DO NOT BACK OUT. I repeat, DO NOT BACK OUT. Stay in the lobby and complete one more game. I remember when I got a triple kill and I backed out while in the pre-game lobby, only to find that the game didn’t save. FML.
4. If you do find that your last game wasn’t saved, then try to find the profile of somebody who was in the same game as you. You can do this by checking the “recent players” menu on XBox or PS3. You can then view their Black Ops player card and select the game that you were in.

So, you have a Black Ops gameplay clip and you want to get it onto your computer. Before doing anything, you should make sure that you have your Youtube account linked to the Call of Duty website (http://www.callofduty.com/).

Firstly, you have to make sure that the clip you want is less than 30 seconds in length. Otherwise, Black Ops Theater Mode won’t allow you to upload it.
After you’ve edited your game and saved the clip that you want to your fileshare, you need to go into Theater Mode, select the clip from your fileshare and then load it. If the clips is less than 30 seconds long, you’ll be given an option called “Render”. Choose that. Theater Mode will then play the clip and render it. After it has finished rendering, you will be shown an upload screen. This will show you the progress of the upload. Once your clip has been uploaded, you’ll be shown a message telling you that the upload was a success. Note: It may take a while before it shows up on the Call of Duty website or your Youtube account. Sometimes I’ve had to wait an hour. Once you have your clip uploaded to your Youtube account, you should visit http://keepvid.com/. KeepVid allows you to download Youtube videos. Copy and paste the URL of your clip into the textbox and press Download. Give KeepVid the permission needed to run its Java App and then select Download MP4 – High Quality – 480×360.

Congratulations, you now have the clip stored on your computer. Make sure to store it in a folder somewhere so that you have all of your Black Ops clips in one place.

When editing clips recorded in Black Ops Theater Mode, be aware the dimensions of the clip are 480×360. That is 480 pixels in width and 360 pixels in height. If you’re using Sony Vegas, make sure that any montage you make is rendered using 480×360. The same goes for other video editors.

Spy Plane

3 kills: The Spy Plane is a 3-kill killstreak. It works much like the UAV in Modern Warfare 2.

RC-XD

3 kills: The RC-XD is a remote control car that the player can navigate around the map. It can be driven towards enemies and then detonated.

Counter Spy Plane

4 kills: The Counter Spy Plane Killstreak works just like the Counter UAV in MW2.

SAM Turret

4 kills: The SAM Turret is an airdropped killstreak. Once airdropped, a player can place it in position. The SAM Turrent targets destroys enemy aircraft.

Care Package

5 kills: Unlike the Care Package in MW2, the Care Package killstreak in Black Ops will actually take 5 kills to get. The Care Package is an airdropped package that contains a random killstreak or an ammo resupply.

Napalm Strike

5 kills: The Napalm Strike is another new killstreak that will be featured in Black Ops. A Napalm Strike can be earned after 5 kills. It will cover an area of the map with napalm.

Sentry Gun

6 kills: Just like in MW2, the Sentry Gun will be a killstreak that will have to be airdropped from the sky. However, in Black Ops, it will take 6 kills to get instead of 5.

Mortar Team

6 kills: The Mortar Team is a new killstreak that will be featured in Call of Duty Black Ops. It will take 6 kills to earn. For this killstreak, the player is prompted to select three areas on the map. After those areas have been select, a Mortar Team will begin a mortar strike on those areas.

Attack Helicopter

7 kills: The Attack Helicopter is back in Black Ops. It will take 7 kills to get.

Valkyrie Rockets

7 kills: The Valkyrie Rockets in Black Ops will give the player a launcher with several remote controlled rockets.

Blackbird

8 kills: This is an interesting killstreak. It seems as if the Blackbird will act like a Spy Plane on steroids. Instead of just showing enemy players on the mini map, the Blackbird will also show the direction that enemy players are running towards. Unlike the Spy Plane, the Blackbird cannot be shot down.

Rolling Thunder

8 kills: The Rolling Thunder seems as if it is the Black Ops version of the Stealth Bomber in MW2. The Rolling Thunder will carpet bomb a designated section of the map.

Chopper Gunner

9 kills The Chopper Gunner returns in Black Ops. However, it will not be the same as the Chopper Gunner seen in MW2. There are no infrared cameras and no pretty little red boxes that highlight players. Instead, you will be given a more realistic view of the map. Since this killsteak won’t be as powerful in Black Ops, they’ve made it a 9-kills killsteak.

Attack Dogs

11 kills The Attack Dogs, first seen in Call of Duty World at War, will be making a comeback for Black Ops. This killsteak strikes fear into the hearts of players as the map becomes engulfed in the sound of savage dogs barking and gnawing at team mates. The Attack Dogs will hunt down enemy players and attempt to kill them.

Gunship

11 kills The Gunship and the Attack Dogs are the largest killsteaks that you will be able to get in Call of Duty Black Ops. The Gunship will allow you to pilot an attack helicopter. I’m still not sure as to how powerful this killsteak will be. Maybe it will be the “new Chopper Gunner”.

The great thing about this new feature is that it will offer you far more options than what a HD capture card can. Get a collateral wallbang but can’t see the players you’ve killed? Well, with the Black Ops Theater mode you’ll actually be able to switch between player views and even use a free-roam camera to get the best angle.

The new feature will record your recent games, allowing you to go back over them, picking out the clips (or entire games) that you want to keep. The recent games menu will display games in a format such as “TEAM DEATHMATCH on Radiation” and “FREE FOR ALL on Summit”. It will show you the date and time that you played the game so that you can be extra sure what clip you’re choosing. After selecting a recent game and choosing “PlayBack”, you will be brought into the editor mode, which will allow you to adjust the timeline, switch between camera views and press “Record”. I am guessing that the “Record” feature allows you to select what parts of the video (clips) you want to keep.

After selecting a game for Playback, you will be brought into the editor mode. This will display a box full of options. As noted; these include Camera Angles, Viewpoints and Record functions. You can go free roam around the map if you wish.

L96AW

The L96AW is a bolt action arctic warfare (AW) sniper rifle. It is a variant of the L96A1, which is a sniper rifle that is currently being used by the British army. The L96AW can perform in temperatures as low as -40 degrees centigrade.

Dragunov

The Dragunov, or Snayperskaya Vintovka Dragunova (SVD), is a gas-operated semi-automatic sniper rifle that was developed in the Soviet Union. It will be making its reappearance in Black Ops. It was first accepted into service in 1963 and in 1964, after a preliminary evaluation, it entered into serial production. The Dragunov has since become the standard squad support weapon for many countries.

WA2000

The WA2000, which was also featured in MW2, is a semi-automatic bullpup sniper rifle that was designed in the later 1970s. The WA2000 is a rare and valuable sniper rifle as production of the rifle was too expensive to achieve widespread sales. Therefore it was stopped.

M40

The last sniper rifle that will be included in Call of Duty Black Ops is the M40 Sniper Rifle. The M40 is a bolt-action sniper rifle that is currently being used by the United States Marine Corps. It was first introduced in 1966 and has an effective range of 800 meters.

M1911

The M1911 is a semi-automatic handgun which originated from the USA.

.357 Magnum

The .357 Magnum will be available in Black Ops. The .357 Magnum is a revolver cartridge that originates from the USA. The .357 Magnum started the “Magnum” era of handgun ammunition.

Python

The Python (or Colt Python) is a .357 Magnum caliber revolver that originates from the USA. It was first introduced in 1955.

Makerov

The Makerov pistol will also be available in Call of Duty Black Ops. Originating from the Soviet Union, the Makerov was the Soviet Union’s standard side arm from 1951 to 1991.

ASP

The ASP pistol is a double-action handgun that originates from the USA. It is believed that the design of the ASP was inspired by US Government organisations, who needed a powerful yet compact firearm for its undercover agents. The ASP pistol was designed so that it can be concealed easily.

CZ75

The CZ75 (or CZ 75) is a semi-automatic pistol that originates from Czechoslovakia (Czech Republic). Introduced in 1975, the handgun is a short recoil operated, locked breech pistol. Whether or not it will carry these characteristics in Black Ops remains to be seen. The pistol is currently used by the Czech Republic’s armed forces, Turkish Police forces and several police departments in the USA.

Pistol attachments for Call of Duty Black Ops

• ACOG scope: It might be a bit strange to see ACOG scopes on handguns.
• Snub Nose
• Speed Reloaded: I’m guessing that this will allow the player to reload his handgun faster?
• Dual Wield: I’m guessing that this means akimbo handguns will be featured in Black Ops.
• Upgraded Iron Sights: I have no idea what that means.

Lightweight

Lightweight allows you to sprint faster than the default. I’m not sure whether it will be as fast as the MW2 version, but its inclusion has been confirmed.
Lightweight Pro: Lightweight Pro, like the MW2 version, will allow you to aim much quicker after sprinting.

Scavenger

Scavenger is back in Black Ops and allows you to resupply from dead bodies. I’m not exactly sure whether it allows you to refill your noobtubes. I’m hoping that it doesn’t.
Scavenger Pro: Scavenger Pro also acts like the MW2 version. It will provide you with extra magazines for your weapon.

Ghost

I’m guessing that Ghost will act like Cold Blooded in MW2. You will be undetectable by the Spy Plane and the Blackbird.
Ghost Pro: Ghost Pro will act like Cold Blooded Pro. Your red name won’t appear above your head and enemy crosshairs won’t widen when placed over you.

Hardline

Hardline is back in Black Ops and it allows you to get your killstreaks one kill earlier.
Hardline Pro: Hardline Pro, unlike MW2, will allow you to get a second chance on the results of care packages. This means that if you get something you don’t like, you can swap it for another package.

Flak Jacket

Flak Jacket is a new perk in Black Ops. It kind of works like the Blast shield equipment in MW2 in the way that it decreases the amount of damage taken from enemy explosives.
Flak Jacket Pro: Resets the fuses of grenades when you toss them back and also gives you an extra bit of added resistance to enemy explosives.

Second Perk Slot / Tier Two

Hardened

Hardened in Black Ops will act much like the FMJ attachments for guns in MW2. Hardened will allow deeper bullet penetration through walls.
Hardened Pro: Hardened Pro will give your bullets an extra damage count against aircrafts and turrets. It also reduces the amount of recoil you witness after being shot.

Scout

Scout acts much like the Steady Aim Pro perk in MW2. In Black Ops, Scout allows you to hold your breath for longer periods when scoping through a sniper rifle.
Scout Pro: This reduces weapon sway while aiming through a sniper scope.

Sleight of Hand

Sleight of Hand makes a reappearance in Black Ops. It will allow you to reload your weapon faster.
Sleight of Hand Pro: The Pro version of Sleight of Hand will allow you to aim down the sights of your weapon. However, it has been announced that Sleight of Hand Pro will not work with Sniper Rifles. This is because Treyarch wanted to make quickscoping more difficult to do in Black Ops.

Warlord

Warlord is the new name for Bling. It will allow you to have two attachments for a primary weapon.
Warlord Pro: Like Bling Pro, Warlord Pro will give you the ability to have two attachments on a secondary weapon.

Third Perk Slot / Tier Three

Marathon

Marathon makes a reappearance in Black Ops. It will allow you to sprint for longer distances. However, it will not act like Marathon in MW2, which allows you to sprint without having to stop and take a breather. This will work like Extreme Conditioning in Call of Duty 4.
Marathon Pro: Marathon Pro in Black Ops will prevent you from taking any fall damage. If you remember, this is what the Commando Pro perk in MW2 did. Marathon Pro in MW2 used to allow you to climb over objects faster.

Ninja

Ninja works like Ninja Pro in MW2. It will allow you to move silently by decreasing the sound of your footsteps. In MW2, the regular Ninja perk made you invisible to Heartbeat Sensors. As far as I’m aware, there will be no Heartbeat Sensors in Black Ops.
Ninja Pro: Ninja Pro in Black Ops will allow you to pass by motion detectors and camera spikes undetected.

Second Chance

In Black Ops, Second Chance allows you to pull out a pistol before dying. This works like Last Stand in MW2.
Second Chance Pro: The Pro version of Second Chance will work like Last Stand Pro in MW2. Instead of just being allowed to use your pistol, it will give you the ability to use your equipment before dying.

Hacker

The standard version of Hacker in Black Ops will act much like Sitrep in MW2. It will allow you to detect enemy equipment such as claymores and frag grenades.
Hacker Pro: Hacker Pro in Black Ops is a perk that everybody seems pretty excited about. Hacker Pro will allow you to booby trap enemy care packages. This means that the enemy care package might exploded in their face when they try to retrieve it. Another exciting feature of Hacker Pro is that it will give you the ability to turn enemy killstreaks and equipments friendly. In one video, a player using Hacker Pro runs up to an enemy sentry gun and “hacks it”, turning the sentry gun against the enemy.

Tactical Mask

This perk will reduce the effect of Flash grenades and other concussion grenades (Stun Grenades etc).
Tactical Mask Pro: This will give the player Night vision goggles.

Perks that Call of Duty Black Ops won’t have

Lets have a look at the perks that Black Ops won’t have:

Stopping Power

For some reason, Treyarch have decided that Stopping Power will not be carried over into Black Ops. This means that the popular perk for that slot could become Lightweight, Ghost or Marathon.

Commando

Yes, Commando is gone…. and good riddance too. No more knife monkeys transporting across the map because they can’t use a gun properly. Treyarch listened to the community and decided to get rid of the perk.

One Man Army

After all of the One Man Army noobtube problems that plagued MW2, Treyarch have decided that OMA will not make a reappearance in Black Ops.

Danger Close

Danger Close was also a major pain. Some players would equip it and then spend the entire game noobtubing and running around the map with their RPG ready and primed to go. For this reason, Danger Close will NOT be in Call of Duty Black Ops.

The best place to start is with an unofficial survey that some Reddit users took part in. Since the submission I am about to link to has 492 upvotes (at the time of this post), I am going to guess that the survey was pretty popular at the time. Do note however that I have absolutely no idea how many Reddit users took part in this poll. The submission to Reddit can be found here: Click Here. Moving on. Let us take a trip to the r/politics section (18th July 11pm GMT 00) on Reddit. Here is a screenshot that I took of the top half of the r/politics section. The r/politics section deals specifically with US-related political news.

The hottest topic is a link to a Youtube video that shows a slideshow of Tea Party signs. The majority of the comments by Reddit users on this post are critical of the Tea Party and their attitudes.

The second hot topic is a post titled “Netanyahu: US easily manipulated – Middle East – Al Jazeera English”. This topic links to an Al Jazeera English news article. The majority of the comments made by Reddit users on this post were critical of Israel and of the US media for not paying attention to the story.

The third topic is a self post (like a forum topic) that is titled “The bush tax cuts account for 40% of our current year deficit. He sold the tax cuts as being simulative to the economy. California unemployment is currently at 12.2%”. The title is obviously critical of former US president George Bush.

The fourth post is titled “Chicago cop who served in Afghanistan and Iraq has warning: Gang members are coming home with military training”. The top comment on this post at the time was:

Call of Duty 7: Black Ops is a first person shooter game developed by Treyarch. It is due for release on the 9th of November 2010. The Call of Duty series has been extremely popular over the past couple of years – especially its online multiplayer mode, which allows players to go online, join teams and play against other players.

How to avoid getting stuck in quicksand in the first place

Quicksand is often found near beaches, rivers and marshes. When walking in these areas, you should be on the lookout for ground that appears to be unstable. Be warned however, as you cannot detect quicksand just by looking at it. It doesn’t work that way. The best way to avoid getting stuck in quicksand in the first place is to bring a long stick with you to areas that you suspect might contain quicksand. While walking slowly and carefully (and preferably barefooted), you can use the stick to check the ground ahead of you. If the ground ahead of you ripples or moves, then you should probably take that as a sign that you are about to waltz right into quicksand.

What if I get stuck in quicksand?

The first thing you need to remember is that you should remain calm and try not to panic. Any violent struggle etc will lead to you sinking even deeper. If you struggle and wave your arms around, the quicksand will further liquefy and it will become more and more difficult for you to escape. I think that we can both agree this is something we want to avoid. Once you’re calm; remove as much heavy items from your person as possible. Carrying a heavy backpack? Well then take it off and toss it aside. Carrying something heavy? Let it go. Also; if you can get your shoes off, then do so, as flat-soled shoes and boots can cause suction, making it more difficult for you to be pulled out of the quicksand. Now, try to relax yourself. Remember, quicksand in real life isn’t usually as deep as it is in Hollywood movies. Usually, it’s only a couple of feet deep. If you do happen to get stuck in deep quicksand, relax as much as you possibly can, as your body’s buoyancy will actually allow you to float at the top of the quicksand, preventing you from going under. Once you’re relaxed; you should breathe deep breaths. These deep breaths will help keep you calm and also help your body remain buoyant. It is pretty much impossible to go under if a) you’re relaxed and b) your lungs are full of air. Now is the time to remember that every movement of yours should be slow and steady. No fast jerks. No kicking your legs about. Just slow, steady and controlled movements. If you begin to sink past your hips, then slowly bend backwards. The more you bend backwards, the more you will be spreading out your weight, maintaining your buoyancy; therefore making it more difficult for you to sink. Once you are fully floating on your back, you will be able to get your legs loose. This should be done very calmly – i.e. no frantic movements. After you’ve managed to get your legs out of the quicksand, you can begin to inch yourself to safety by carefully and slowly using your arms to float yourself across the top of the quicksand. The main idea here is to be patient and take your time. If you feel yourself getting tired, then it is time to take a break. Exhaustion is just as dangerous as panic when it comes to being stuck in quicksand.
